Hey everyone! I'm having another contest. A bit of a mini-contest, actually. There will be only one winner, but they'll get a special prize! Read on to find out more.

THEME & RULES

"What If: True Love?"

 

For those of you who've read my comic "Betrothed," you know that Uru makes a very important choice near the end. She ultimately chooses Ahadi over Rehema. The lion she was betrothed to over the lion she fell in love with. (The reasons for this and a lot of Uru's feelings/thoughts are open to interpretation, but I'll leave that to you. )

What if....

Your entry can be done as a picture (or multiple pictures), a comic page/strip, or a written story.  You can enter as many times as you want!

RULES:
Only original art or stories are allowed.
Your entry may be art or a written story. And yes, comics are allowed.
You can enter as many times as you want (multiple parts/chapters of the same story, even if uploaded separately will be considered one entry).
Bases and line-art (and anything else) that you didn't create are NOT allowed.
Art theft, tracing, manipulation of screencaps/other fanart, and plagiarism will not be tolerated. Any entrant caught doing so will be disqualified from the contest.

Entries will be judged by me on creativity and originality. You can choose to present an entry that would fit well in my story, or do something crazy! It's up to you.

After fleeing from Pride Rock and bumping into Rehema deep in the shelter of the jungle Uru ended up spending the night with him. Hours went by and Rehema had eventually fallen asleep. Uru could feel his warm body right next to hers. She tried to sleep, but found it impossible even though everything around her was calm and greatly soothed her mind. She was far enough from all that had happened back at the place she called home. Uru's ear twitched as a lonely firefly landed on it for a brief moment before leaving once again. She slightly moved her tail closer to her body and rested her head against the soft grass once more. She was restless and knew that she would never be fully at peace if she didn't get all this sorted out. As a Queen this was something that she should be able to handle.
"What am I to do?"
she silently asked herself. She didn't know. As minutes lingered by, she started thinking about everything back home. Her King, a lion she was bet  CE: What If? True LoveA golden lion sat at the top of Pride Rock, looking up at the stars. Why did she leave? Wasn't I enough? What was so special about him that isn't there in me? Tears dripped down a proud face. He didn't stir when his ears caught footsteps behind him. "I'm fine, go away."
    "No, you're not," said King Ahadi as he sat beside his son. "Anymore than I am, and refusing to talk about it will do you no good either."
    Mufasa kept his eyes on the stars. Finally, he said, "If I had known the brother I was so happy to finally have would take my mother from me, I -"
    "You would not have harmed him any more than I did. And you know that's not it. It was not your brother she chose over you, but his father over me."
    "Why did she marry you in the first place if she didn't love you, then?" Mufasa sniffed. Tomorrow was supposed to be a happy day; the day he married Sarabi and Ahadi stepped down as King. A Different Path
Uru watched in horror as Rehema, the lion she loved, and Ahadi, her husband and father of her young son Mufasa fought. Ahadi had Rehema on the ground and was about to deliver a blow when Uru jumped in front of him.
“Ahadi, stop! Please!” Ahadi growled at the dark lion. “I love him!” The king’s eyes widened in shock. “I’m sorry, Ahadi, but I only love you as a friend. I hoped my feelings for you would grow, but they didn’t. I met Rehema several weeks ago. He was starving, so I allowed him to hunt in the Pridelands until he got his strength back. Over time we fell in love. I’m sorry, Ahadi, but I can’t live like this anymore! I can’t live with these secrets and lies.”
Ahadi felt his chest hurt as he fought back tears. He knew Uru didn’t love him, but he had hoped they would work it  <da:thumb id="640262106"/>   
<da:thumb id="642097261"/> The DiscoveryUru lay in Rehema’s embrace as she began drifting off to sleep. The only other time she had felt nearly this content was holding her dear Mufasa. A twinge of guilt appeared as she thought of little Mufasa and his father back at Pride rock, worrying about her, missing her. She pushed those thoughts aside. She would figure it out in the morning. For now, she was happy, and hadn’t she earned the right to at least one night of happiness? She glanced at Rehema’s sleeping face, smiled, and closed her eyes welcoming the velvety warmth of sleep.
Ahadi had searched everywhere. The watering hole, the border near the outlands, even the caves he and Uru had played in as cubs. He stumbled onward to the small forest on the southern border. Forcing his deadened paws to keep going. He had to know she was safe, even if she would not come back with him. As he neared the edge of the forest he scented her.
“Uru!” he whispered his voice thick with hope and worry. No reply. He A Choice is MadeAhadi swallowed hard as he watched Uru’s lithe form slip away into the dark. It had been a long emotionally exhausting day. He had publicly released Uru from her pledge as a mate. She had done everything her betrothal was meant to do, and since she did not love him he could not force her to continue as his mate. However, she would stay his queen unless he found a new mate. This was then followed by the announcement of Mufasa and Sarabi’s betrothal. Uru had agreed on the condition that neither be told until they were adults, and if there was no love between them it would be absolved. A discussion of Uru’s rouge capped off the emotionally draining day. King Khalfani admitted that the rouge was likely his sister’s son who had attempted to join them, followed, and eventually stole from them. Khalfani said he harbored no ill-will as the male was starving, and if Ahadi wanted to extend an invitation he would not oppose it. Since he was comfortable with Uru she would g What Happened AfterThe past four months had not been as smooth as Uru had hoped. Ahadi tried but nothing he said convinced the lionesses to like Rehema. They saw him as a thief; stealing their beloved queen away from their far too generous king. They did not attack him in words or deeds, they simply avoided him if at all possible. It didn’t help that Uru realized she was pregnant not long after Rehema showed up. Because Uru had been staying with Rehema since he arrived it didn’t take much thought to figure out who the father was. Ahadi tried to make Rehema feel at home but he, King Khalfani, and Mufasa were the only the only ones who truly did. Mufasa called Rehema uncle and would visit the cave Rehema and Uru shared as often as he could. Rehema really liked Mufasa. He played with him often, but as hard as Rehema was trying to fit in, it wasn’t working. Now that she and Rehema’s cubs were almost a month old they could leave; a fact he brought up frequently. I want to find Reheema" Uru lowered her head "...I understand" Ahadi turned away from her tears streaming down his face.  "I think it's best if you leave now, before the pride sees Taka" Ahadi looked to Rafiki and he nodded sadly walking out of the cave.  "What are you going to tell the pride?"  Uru asked "that you lost the cub, and ran away" Ahadi said.  Uru lowered her head "of course."  She grabbed Taka and headed out the back of the cave "I'll always love you Uru" Ahadi said.  "...Thank you Ahadi" Uru ran out the back leaving everything behind.  The sun was starting to set behind her, she ran for as long as she could, Pride rock slowly fading into the distance.  Tears stung her eyes as she thought of Mufasa and her mother, she would never see them again, they would probably think she died.  She ran for days barely BrokenThe Lion King:

Note from the Author of Broken: I wanted to write an alternate outcome for Betrothed for some time now. I discussed the potential outcomes before with Nala15, but now this gives me an opportunity to write the outcome as I feel would happen and how it would affect the characters. Personally, I think it would change the entire plot of the Lion King, so consider these events purely an alternate reality. Why “Broken” as a title? It fits in the theme that Nala15 seems to have intended with her stories: Having a title beginning with a B. I also think that because Uru left, it leaves Ahadi, Mufasa and the Pridelands broken in a completely different way. But she won’t leave…completely.
